Hi! While Matcha does not have its own token at this time, the platform is built using 0x protocol which does have its own token - ZRX. ZRX is a governance token. Similar to CRV, YFI, and COMP, owning the token allows you to drive the direction of how the protocol will evolve. ZRX is also a staking token. Protocol fees generated via Matcha trades get distributed as liquidity rewards to registered market makers, and in turn, to token holders who stake their pools. What this does mean is that Matcha does not have any plans in the near-or-distant future to create its own token.
